Inclusive Design

Foolproof

The App

The aim of this app is to challenge designers to think about inclusivity in their design process.

With two main features of the app, you can complete specific quizzes on topics that may be the user's weak points and complete randomised daily quizzes to keep up their knowledge.

The second part of the app is a checklist flow in which users can add their projects and share them with colleagues. They can design their own checklists or use generic ones as well as comment on certain points if someone else has ticked it as done. This way all the designers involved in the project can review how inclusive they were and what they might need to consider more of.

Features include:

  1. Completing quizzes daily as well as on specific quizzes

  2. Adding checklists of different projects and sharing them with colleagues

  3. Being able to rate how well you think a point was achieved and leaving any comments for improvements

Overview

The brief was all about teaching designers how they could be more inclusive in their design processes. There is a lot around accessibility within design, and because accessibility and inclusivity can be seen as similar topics, inclusivity is often not as focused on, hence the focus on it here.

The whole aim of this project is to get designers thinking about things they may not have before in one place and easily sharing their decisions with their colleagues.

Approach

My approach towards this project was to research inclusivity exclusively and find that cognitive biases can come under this umbrella term. I then focused on many different inclusive topics and cognitive biases that can be applied to design.

The quizzes aim to improve designers instinct with designs, and the checklists aim to improve how they go about inclusivity within their design process.
